The Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) announces an exhibition of work from artists participating in the Seneca Arts Virtual Incubator (SAVI) program. The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, January 20 from 6-8pm at CCAC’s gallery space at 100 W. Main St., Allegany. The exhibition includes work from 15 participating artists including painting, basket weaving, drawing, beadwork, painted porcelain, sculpture, and wood carving.
The SAVI professional development program has provided participants with business training, career counseling, and support services geared specifically to artists. Projects included participants from the Seneca Nation of Indians as well as regional artists, each coming to the program with a wide variety of experience, interests, and goals. Artists met monthly to learn about selling and marketing their work and to offer support for each other. The exhibition is the culmination of this year-long program.
CCAC's Executive Director Anne Conroy-Baiter commented that the exhibition is well-worth a visit. "The SAVI artists worked very hard this year to sharpen their business skills as well as focus their lines of artwork. The results show in this exhibition with well-chosen pieces of work which are not only a tribute to the individual artists but to the group as a whole. We're saddened that SAVI is coming to an end, but this exhibition is a joyous celebration of a year well-spent in learning and fellowship."
The SAVI exhibition will be on display at the CCAC gallery until February 28. The opening reception will take place from 6-8pm on Friday, January 20. This event is FREE and open to the public.
