Interview Style w/ Gowanda Harley-Davidson® Marketing Manager Tim McKeever
When did the Kustom Kruise-In Start: Kustom Kruise-In began in 2009, and has grown every year, with over 100 pre-85 American Motorcycles and Classic Cars in attendance.
How popular is it: Well, the neat thing about our Kustom Kruise-In is the fact that it is free to be a part of on all levels. It’s free for the vintage bike owners to show off their bikes. It’s free for the Rat Rod, Street Rob, Bobber owners to display their cars. Plus, it’s free for all to attend. Not to mention there’s vendors on hand, and the vendors can attend for free as well! So, the fact there is no cost to be a part of the day, whether you’re a spectator or part of the show, and to enjoy great Rockabilly music, like this year with Buffalo Hall of Famer Bobby Lebel and his Damn Fine Rebels, makes it as popular as it is. And there’s food and drinks are available, and a Kustom Kruise-In ride after the show from GHD to the Dunkirk Pier.
What changes have been made over the year: Coming up on its fourth year, the Kustom Kruise-In IV has been pretty solid since the beginning. An event designed by guys and girls who already live the lifestyle of bikes and cars, little has had to change. There are awards, both for cars and bikes, this year for Best Of (Overall), Best Upholstery, Best Paint, Most Rat, Most Original, Best Kustom, and even Best Dressed, as this is an event many come dressed to impressed. Ladies: pin up dresses. Guys: Pomade and Garage Shirts.
Why mainly “pre-85” American bikes: “Pre-85” is a date we have established that we feel allows a bike to be old enough to qualify for it being “classic” or “vintage”. No offense if you were born before then! We also keep the focus on American motorcycles, has Harley-Davidson® is just that, American. We won’t discriminate though if any foreign or “metric” bikes come in. All types of classic cars are welcome too!
What do people need to do to participate: You can pre-register your car or bike by calling us at 716-532-4584, but most just roll in the day of, which is fine by us. Registration is from 10am-12pm. Voting starting at Noon. Awards are at 3pm. Remember; it’s free to register, free to attend.
