S.T.A.R.S. 35th Annual Scale Air Show 2012
See hundreds of radio controlled aircraft fly through the skies at the Olean Airport on July 7-8, 2012.Every year since July 1978, The Southern Tier Aero Radio Society has held a Radio Controlled Model Aircraft Scale Rally. It is one of the largest Radio Controlled Model Aircraft Scale Rallies in New York State and was the first to feature Giant Scale Model aircraft. During the Rally, the airport is closed to full-scale aircraft activity in order to allow the Radio Controlled pilots full access to the skies over the 2000+ foot grass runway. The Rally has attracted modelers from all across the United States and from foreign countries including Canada. It features hundreds of different types and sizes of scale aircraft and in recent years has included evening flying of electric models.
