New Creative Classes for Kids this February Break
Looking for a creative and productive way for your kids to spend their February vacation? The Cattaraugus County Arts Council announces an exciting lineup of art classes at their Allegany studio for students of all ages. For only $65, students can sign up today for one of the week-long creative day camps that will be held between February 17-21. Budding artists from age 4-7 can delve into creativity during this week-long ArtVenture camp where students discover a new medium each day. Projects will include a Quilt Jungle, Clay Coil Pots, Mondrian Inspired Paintings, Peublo Drums, and Mexican Tin Ornaments. ArtVenture for New Artists will run from 9-10am.
Students age 7-10 will explore a variety of techniques including Paper Dying, Paper Origami, Still-Life Drawing and Painting, Printmaking with Natural Objects, and T-Shirt Design and Printing. This 5-day camp runs from 10:30am-12pm.
Junior Artists age 10-14 can play with clay during ClayVenture camp. These junior artists will create a clever Cupcake Dish, a Ceramic Piggybank, Clay Monsters, and Critter Whistles. The final day of class will be spent learning about ceramic glazes and other decorative techniques to finish off their works of art. ClayVenture runs from 12:30-2pm.
Teen artists can expand their drawing as they learn the basics of creating an illustration including sketching, using reference photos, and learning how to get the most out of a pencil. All students will leave at the end of the week with one black and white illustration they have created and a notebook full of learning. Imaginative Realism Illustration class runs 2:30-4pm.
New for students in Ellicottville, CCAC will host a satellite class for young artists ages 7-10 at the Ellicottville Memorial Library. Students will discover a variety of new mediums and create a Quilt Jungle, Animal Masks, Mondrian Inspired Paintings, Peublo Drums, and Mexican Tin Ornaments. This ArtVenture class will run daily at Ellicottville Memorial Library from 12:30 to 1:30.
