Roaring 20's "Catsino" Night for The SPCA

Roaring 20's Party

Come dressed as a flapper or gangster and get ready to play some cards at the "Catsino" Night benefit for the Cattaraugus County SPCA, held at the Pulaski Club in Olean.  Have some fun while you're supporting the cause!  Tickets are just $15 for this Casino Night including Blackjack, Texas Hold'Em, Roulette, a Prize Wheel, and pet art silent auction.  Sponsored by the Mark Pugue Agency, there are plenty of prizes to win, including a prize for best costume.  Ticket prize includes admission, hors d'oeuvres, and casino chips.  A bash bar will be available as well.

Tickets are available at the SPCA - 2944 Rt. 16 Olean, Mark Pogue Agency - 1720 W. State St. Olean, or the Greater Olean Chamber of Commerce - 120 N. Union St.   You may also purchase tickets at the door.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams.

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud.

In our opinion, only some of the river banks are bad smelling. Come on over and visit a creek in Cattaraugus County and tell us what you think.
