Roller Derby Girls

This is the Final Home Bout for the Enchanted Mountain Roller Derby girls!  On a non-stop winning streak they will face the Finger Lakes Lunachicks at the William O. Smith Rec Center in Olean.  Cheer on the hometown girls for the last time of the season in Olean.  Always a fun time, if you haven't yet gone to watch them in action, be there this Saturday.  Pre-sale tickets are available for $8 at Olean Sports Locker, the Chamber of Commerce or any Derby Girl.  There will also be tickets at the door for $10.  Kids 10 & under are free!

As always, 10% of the ticket sales from each bout are donated to a local charity (Child Advocacy)!
  Doors open at 6:30pm, with first whistle at 7:30pm.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams. http://www.dos.ny.gov/info/pdfs/countynames.pdf

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattaraugus_Creek.

In our opinion, only some of the river banks are bad smelling. Come on over and visit a creek in Cattaraugus County and tell us what you think.
