The performance by Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s Big Band at St. Bonaventure University, postponed because of a March snowstorm, has been rescheduled.  The concert will be held at 7 pm on Sunday, April 30, in Rigas Family Theater of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on campus. Those with tickets for the original performance date, March 14, are asked to retain their tickets and present them at the door for admission to the rescheduled April 30 concert. Others seeking tickets, which are free, should call the Quick Center Box Office at (716) 375-2494.

Led by bass clarinetist and saxophonist Sal Andolina, the BPO Big Band features some 20 musicians. They’ll be joined on stage by Dr. Les Sabina, chair of St. Bonaventure’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts, on saxophone; and by vocalist Colleen Williams.

The concert is sponsored by St. Bonaventure’s Keenan-Martine Endowment, which provides grants to enhance teaching at the university.

The Clare College Jazz Series welcomes this hard-swinging, wall-rattling big band back for a 2017 encore engagement.

Last year, saxophonist/clarinetist Andolina led the group of BPO all-stars through big band classics from the swing era, such as “April In Paris,” “Accentuate The Positive,” and “Take the 'A' Train.” Buffalo vocalist Colleen Williams will also join in on a few selections.

“This is the second year that the endowment has sponsored several on-campus jazz concerts that not only benefit our students, but also the campus and regional communities at large,” said Sabina, longtime music professor at the university.

General Admission tickets are now available to the public.  Please call the Quick Center Box office at 375-2494 to reserve your FREE general admission tickets.
