The Gin Mill has been an Ellicottville tradition since 1976. They offer a full bar, 18 domestic and imported draughts along with a wide assortment of bottled beers. The menu is casual and reasonably priced including wings, burgers, wraps, sandwiches and salads. The Gin Mill is a family favorite as children enjoy the game room and kid friendly atmosphere. The back room is available for groups and private parties.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams. http://www.dos.ny.gov/info/pdfs/countynames.pdf

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattaraugus_Creek.
