Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.

Enjoy a visit to the Pfeiffer cabin which is listed on the national and state registers of historic places. The American Chestnut cabin is a very well preserved specimen of rustic style whose basic integrity has remained unchanged since its 1939/1940 construction. The cabin is a true gem of the Lillibridge preserve and an indoor exploration is not to be missed!

The Bikes are back in town! Gowanda Harley Davidson, and the "Enchanted Mountain Motorcycle Enthusiasts" will be hosting the 16th Annual Rally in the Valley Aug. 15-19 in Allegany's Firemans Park.
