Granny's Boot Antiques is hosting their second annual Open House with lots of entertainment inside and out!Friday evening, enjoy the spring weather with the sounds of local favorite, The Blue Mule Band. Saturday and Sunday will feature demonstrations of Pioneer artisans showcasing their talents in weaving, spinning, blacksmithing, butter making and more.  You can also enjoy a pony-powered wagon ride around the property Saturday afternoon, and you may see a clown or two!

Enjoy all the outside activities and check out all the great ANTIQUES and Folk Art in the Barn.

Hours for the event are:  Friday 4-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-3pm.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams. http://www.dos.ny.gov/info/pdfs/countynames.pdf

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattaraugus_Creek.

In our opinion, only some of the river banks are bad smelling. Come on over and visit a creek in Cattaraugus County and tell us what you think.
