Allegany State Park National Public Lands Day

Join Allegany State Park as we celebrate National Public Lands Day with our 13th year of participation! National Public Lands Day is our nation’s largest one-day event designed to give people a chance to give back to the public lands they love by volunteering for a few hours on a variety of service projects that enhance both the park and the visitor experience.

This year’s event takes place Saturday, September 30th on the Quaker side of the park.  We have numerous volunteer projects including bear box installation, gardening, and litter pickup, with more in the works!  The day will start off with Check-in/Registration from 9:00-10:00am at the Quaker Museum. Service Projects will be from 10:00am-3:00pm, followed by a chicken barbeque dinner at the Quaker picnic area (for a very nominal fee) at 4:00pm.

Participants are asked to come dressed for the weather and to get dirty. This event will be held rain or shine. We ask that attendees pre-register by September 25th by contacting the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at 716-354-9101 ext.236. We will also gladly accept walk-in volunteers the day of the event. Please use the above contact or check out our Facebook page if you would like more information. Miner's Cabin built by Gold Miner

Miner’s Cabin in Franklinville was built by a miner that returned home after making it good during the gold rush era of the west coast. The building is not a cabin either but a three story house of Queen Anne design.
