Roadside Café is a family-style restaurant on one side and a bar and grill on the other. The unique décor includes old, authentic wagon wheels in a partition separating the bar from the main dining room. According to Vecchiarella, the light panels with animal designs that he incorporated into the décor came out of McDonald’s 50 years ago.

In the location formerly where The Pyramid Inn, a complete overhaul has taken place in the building and all new equipment was purchased. Throughout the restaurant, the walls are tongue-and-groove pine with the boards stained different shades, and there are a few dark red walls for accent. The bar room also has tongue-and-groove pine and the cornice over the back bar is multi-colored.

There is plenty of seating and both the bar area and the dining room. The room in back has also been remodeled and will accommodate 50 to 60 people for parties, clubs or anyone wanting more privacy.

The restaurant is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the bar is open until midnight every night. Koch said they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day, and they serve breakfast until 3 p.m.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams. http://www.dos.ny.gov/info/pdfs/countynames.pdf

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattaraugus_Creek.

In our opinion, only some of the river banks are bad smelling. Come on over and visit a creek in Cattaraugus County and tell us what you think.
