Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.

The American Chestnut cabin is a very well preserved specimen of rustic style whose basic integrity has remained unchanged since its 1939/1940 construction. The cabin is a true gem of the Lillibridge preserve and an indoor exploration is not to be missed!

Listen to a presentation on Wampum by Professor Richard Hamell, at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum. Wampum is defined as a quantity of small cylindrical beads made by North American Indians from quahog shells, strung together and worn as a decorative belt or other decoration or used as money.
This event is an alcohol free, family event to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Seneca Nation featuring real Native American arts and crafts.
Every time we get kids in the woods experiencing nature, we all win. Young artists are invited to join veteran plein air oil painter Thomas Annear to experience the woods of the Pfeiffer Nature Center outside of Portville NY as only an artist can. Learn basic drawing techniques during the morning nature journaling class. Enjoy a Plein Air painting demonstration while you eat lunch.
Saving Grace Outreach is hosting their inaugural Saving Grace Gallop 5K and Children's Carnival on Saturday, July 16th beginning at the lot across from the Cattaraugus Firehall, at the intersection of Memorial Drive & Main Street. Registration opens at 8am and the race starts at 9am.
