A brief synopsis:
“Pump Boys and Dinettes” is a musical revue set along a stretch of Highway 57 in rural North Carolina. The story centers around four gas station workers—the “Pump Boys”—and two waitresses—the “Dinettes”—who run the neighboring Double Cupp Diner.
The show doesn’t follow a traditional plot but instead unfolds through a series of songs, monologues, and comedic bits that give insight into the characters’ lives, dreams, and relationships. Themes include small-town life, love, heartbreak, hard work, and simple pleasures like fishing, pie, and good music.
With a score that blends country, rockabilly, and blues, the musical is warm, funny, and laid-back, celebrating Americana with charm and authenticity.
