Friends of Good Music presents Barbara Luisi, and Alessandro Taverna

The third performance of the 2019-2020 Concert Series, presented by Friend of Good Music and held at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, is a duo recital of Barbara Luisi on violin and Alessandro Taverna on piano.

The duo of Violinist Barbara Luisi and the highly-praised Venetian Pianist Alessandro Taverna is exploring the repertoire of favorite short pieces of music by famous composers. Their program “Les Images…Encore!” was recently presented in a celebrated appearance at the Venice’s Opera House Teatro La Fenice. Barbara Luisi plays a Giovanni Grancino Violin from 1700. Alessandro Taverna established his international career by winning major prizes at the London International Piano Competition, and the Busoni Piano Competition in Bolzano, among many others. Since then, he has gone to perform in some of the most important concert halls.

Memberships for Friends Of Good Music are available and include a basic subscription with reserved seats for any six programs. Season subscribers may individualize their plan by adding additional program tickets to their subscription at a greatly reduced price. All seats are reserved, though members may request specific seats with their subscription order on a first-come, first-served basis. A reception for all season subscribers will be held after the bonus concert in May.

Tickets can be purchased over the phone or at the box office, which is open one hour before performances and during intermission. All art galleries and the gift shop at the Quick Center are open on concert nights.  Season Subscriptions are available on the Friends of Good Music Website.

Top 10 site for Steelhead Fishing

Cattaraugus Creek has been listed in the top 10 sites for Steelhead Fishing (rainbow trout fishing) by 2 outdoor magazines. Steelhead Trout AKA Rainbow trout are very similar to Salmon in both taste and habits. Unlike other areas of the United States, our native Rainbow trout (Steelhead Trout) spend a majority of time in Lake Erie a freshwater lake and spawn in the Cattaraugus Creek and other tributaries.

The following is from the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation's article "Steelhead Fishing in Lake Erie Tributaries"

Lake Erie's tributary streams, both big and small, receive an annual run of migratory rainbow trout called "steelhead." From October through April, thousands of steelhead ascend New York's Lake Erie tributaries on their mission to spawn. Excellent fishing opportunities await any angler who wishes to try their hand at steelhead fishing. Between the acrobatic leaps, long drag-screaming runs and rod quaking head shakes, the fight of an early run steelhead is a truly exhilarating experience.
