Annual Trail Clearing and Clean Up Gathering at Pfeiffer Nature Center 

Saturday, June 25th, Start Time: 1 pm  Event Length: 2-3 hrs. 

 

Summer is nearly here and we are geared up to do some sprucing up at Pfeiffer Nature Center! You can show appreciation for nature by assisting at our annual trail clearing and cleanup event.  This project day is the perfect way to enjoy the woods while helping to keep our grounds and trails well maintained and accessible.  This activity is free and open to the public and is best designed for ages 10 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Trail clearing tools will be available, but please feel free to bring your own. Snacks and water will be provided.  We will gather at the kiosk at: Pfeiffer Nature Center, Lillibridge Preserve, 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville, NY 14770.  Pre-registration is greatly appreciated but not required.  Reserve by e-mailing:  naturalist [at] pfeiffernaturecenter [dot] org or calling the office 716-933-0187 by Thursday, June 23rd.  Please indicate the number attending and include a phone number.  In the event of poor weather, this program will be canceled.  If the weather appears questionable, look for a cancellation notice on the main page of our website.  Pfeiffer Nature Center is supported by United Way Funding.  Pfeiffer Nature Center where Science, Art & Nature come together.

Clare Mark is the highest elevation in Cattaraugus County

The highest point in Cattaraugus County is Clare Mark, at 2,430 feet.  This mount, in the Town of Allegany off Chipmunk Road, is privately owned, and does not have public access for hiking.  Nearby attractions are Rock City Park and Allegany State Park.
