Ellicottville was named in honor of Joseph Ellicott, an agent of the Holland Land Company, was formed from Ischua in 1820. A portion of Ashford and East Otto were taken in 1824, and 1858 respectively.
Randolph is a quaint, historic town and the heart of the New York's Amish Trail.
The Town of Randolph contains a hamlet called Randolph. The town also contains part of the hamlet of East Randolph, which is also partially located in the Town of Conewango.

Gowanda is a town and village that is in Cattaraugus County and Erie County.
Gowanda was settled in 1810 by Turner Aldrich and incorporated as Gowanda in 1848. The name "Gowanda" came from the Seneca Indian phrase of "a valley among the hills" or "under the cliffs."
