Salamanca

Salamanca is a town and a city in Cattaraugus County, New York. The City of Salamanca is the only city in the USA that is located entirely on a Native American Territory. The name is from a major investor in a local railroad.

Step Right Up at the Cattaraugus County Fair

Cotton candy, fried food, rides, animal shows, and live entertainment, are all available at the Cattauragus County Fair. Make plans to catch the demolition derby, monster trucks, or a concert. Have some good old fashioned fun! The fair is held yearly, the first week in August.

Machias

The Town of Machias is an interior town in the northeast quadrant of the county. It is northeast of the city of Salamanca.

Extended Holiday Hours at the Fannie Bartlett House

Take a trip back in time with a Victorian Christmas at the Fannie Bartlett House in Olean. The twinkling lights and decorations need extra display time which means the Barlett House is open for extended hours.

This Queen Anne-style house was originally built in 1881 by George Foreman, and purchased in 1891 by Frank and Fannie Bartlett for $15,000, a hefty sum for that time, he said. The house features nine rooms decorated in turn-of-the-century Victoriana and seven fireplaces, each different in design and composition.
