First NASCAR Points Champion from Northeast USA

Race at the Pennyroyal Race Track with the text "In those days it was "run what you brung!" Just try to keep all four wheels on the track!

The very first NASCAR points champion from the Northeast part of the USA, Bill Rexford, began his career at the Pennyroyal Race Track in Leon, NY.

Bill is NASCAR's youngest Cup Champion and the 1950 NASCAR points champion, which was the second year of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship.

Portville Central School’s Arts, Crafts, & Antiques Show returns as a one day, indoor event. It will be held at the Portville High School and will feature art, crafts, antiques and food on Saturday, November 2nd from 10:00am-5:00pm.

Proceeds collected directly benefit the students of Portville Central School in the form of achievement awards and student scholarships.

Ellicottville

Ellicottville was named in honor of Joseph Ellicott, an agent of the Holland Land Company, was formed from Ischua in 1820.  A portion of Ashford and East Otto were taken in 1824, and 1858 respectively.

Cotton candy, fried food, rides, animal shows, and live entertainment, are all available at the Cattauragus County Fair. Make plans to catch the demolition derby, monster trucks, or a concert. Have some good old fashioned fun! The fair is held yearly, the first week in August.
