Snowmobile Trails are opening on December 23, 2015, with Mother Nature's permission, of course!

Snowmobile, in the Enchanted Mountains of Cattaraugus County, on over 400 miles of trails throughout the county and Allegany State Park, the largest state park in New York State.

Our gorgeous Enchanted Mountains is home to Allegany State Park, considered the largest park in New York State and the third largest park in the nation.  A number of cabins line the trails and are easily accessible and affordable to everyone - just in case you'd like to extend your stay. 

Try the new Group Camp 5, perfect for your snowmobile club.  Houses up to 72 people in 18 newly remodeled cabins complete with table, benches, heater, 4 bunk style beds and space to breathe.  Also in Camp is a mess hall with 14 benches, 3 upright refridgerators, one freezer and everything you need to make your meals.  The facilities are worth mentioning as well, 7 individual showers, three of them being handicap accesible.  Call 1 800 456-2267. 

Whether you're riding through Allegany State Park's popular Thunder Rocks, or you're enjoying the open trails and the serene landscape views, there's days worth of experience and adventure to be had.  The park is considered one of the most well-groomed areas to snowmobile and enjoy everything that winter in Cattaraugus County has to offer.  So don't miss out!

#2 - Register your Snowmobile

From the NYS DMV

If you have a current, valid NYSSA voucher, the fee for your registration is $45.00.

If you do not have a valid NYSSA voucher, the fee is $100.

New Registration

We prefer that you register your snowmobile by stopping by the DMV in Little Valley, NY, Delevan, NY or Olean, NY with your NYSSA Snowmobile Club Voucher.

Top 10 site for Steelhead Fishing

Cattaraugus Creek has been listed in the top 10 sites for Steelhead Fishing (rainbow trout fishing) by 2 outdoor magazines. Steelhead Trout AKA Rainbow trout are very similar to Salmon in both taste and habits. Unlike other areas of the United States, our native Rainbow trout (Steelhead Trout) spend a majority of time in Lake Erie a freshwater lake and spawn in the Cattaraugus Creek and other tributaries.

The following is from the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation's article "Steelhead Fishing in Lake Erie Tributaries"

Lake Erie's tributary streams, both big and small, receive an annual run of migratory rainbow trout called "steelhead." From October through April, thousands of steelhead ascend New York's Lake Erie tributaries on their mission to spawn. Excellent fishing opportunities await any angler who wishes to try their hand at steelhead fishing. Between the acrobatic leaps, long drag-screaming runs and rod quaking head shakes, the fight of an early run steelhead is a truly exhilarating experience.
