Shearing Weekend at West Winds Alpaca Ranch

Ever wonder how an alpaca is shorn? Well, here’s your chance to see, up close & personal!  West Winds Alpaca Ranch will be busy shearing for three days.

Their shearers, Cindy Vars of Autumn Hill Alpacas in Andover, NY, and Phil Kellogg of Kellog’s Alpacas in Scio, NY, have agreed to come shear their alpacas again this year. Both do a fabulous job and they always have a great time. It’s a lot of work, but it’s necessary to keep the alpacas cool in the summer heat. They are always happy to have people come see how it’s done and never turn down the offer of help – so if you’d like to give them a hand sometime that weekend, they’d love to have you there!
