Autumn is Wonder-fall 2010

Well, it is already Autumn in 2010 and we love the falling leaves. We've created the following routes to take you through different areas of Cattaraugus County.

This post is long-winded as it gives you some options for your trip into Cattaraugus County.

Amish Country & Onoville


From the East or West (Exit 16) on I-86

From the North take Route 62 from Erie County into Cattaraugus County.

From the South from Pennsylvania take Route 394 North.


Go Fishing & Explore the old growth forest at Zoar Valley

Explore the Amish & English businesses along New York's Amish Trail

Stop by and get some cheese at the Valley View Cheese Company with about 40 varieties to choose from! (Monday - Saturday, 8:30AM-5:00PM; Sunday Closed)

Try something spicy & hot at Hot Papa's Fiery Flavors

Take a drive down to Onoville Marina and enjoy the view over the water.

Olympia Family Restaurant - Great Greek Food

Racers Restaurant - Children friendly! Playground equipment and outdoor seating for families with pets.

Mustard Seed Restaurant - Unique Cuisine & Vegetarian dishes

Zollinger's - We've heard that they have the best prime rib in the area.

CJK's Leon Grill - Best broiled cajun haddock in an informal atmosphere!

Oregano's Family Restaurant (not open on Sundays) - Serving great Italian food!

Hide-A-Way Restaurant - Buffets on Friday and Saturday.

Horseshoe Inn - From burgers to steak they offer a wide variety of foods. Hunters will love this place with all kinds of guns on the walls.

Nic-L-Inn - Great Food in the middle of nowhere. Voted Best of the Best by the Jamestown Post Journal. 

Route 219 - Ashford, East Otto, Ellicottville, Great Valley and Salamanca, New York


From the South - Take Route 219 North from Bradford, Pennsylvania

From the North - Take Route 219 South from Springville, New York

From the West - Take I-86 East from Jamestown, New York to Exit #20

From the East - Take I-86 West from Belmont, New York to Exit #20

Learn about the history and culture of the Seneca-Iroquois Native Americans at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum.

Dina's Restaurant - A great breakfast stop as Dina's prepares healthy food that tastes great.

Watch the chef cook your home-style breakfast at the Plaza Restaurant.

The seasonal Red House Restaurant is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and is located in Allegany State Park. Autumn hours for the Red House Restaurant are Friday 4pm - 8pm, Saturday 11am - 6pm and Sundays 8:30am - 3pm.

The Barn - Prime Rib on Friday & Saturday

The Birdwalk Restaurant - Owned and operated by Bill Barrett since 1970. He has always been proud to serve fresh fish & meats. Items are prepared from scratch when you order. All the sauces & side dishes are prepared on site from Bill’s own recipes.

Double Diamond has the best burgers in Ellicottville! Be sure to ask for their ribs or chicken wings with the Double Diamond's special sauce. Live music every Friday and Saturday night! Largest selection of microbrews in Ellicottville. Their soups are excellent.

From the North - Take Route 16 South from Holland, New York

From the East - Take either:

  • Route 39 West from Arcade, NY
  • Route 243 West from Rushford, NY to Route 98 South
  • I-86 West from Belmont, NY
  • Route 417 West from Wellsville, NY

From the South

  • Route 305 North to Route 417 West
  • Route 16 North from Derrick City, PA
  • Route 219 North from Bradford, PA to Route 417 East

From the West - Take I-86 East to Exit #24 to Route 417 East


Take a hike and enjoy the view at Pfeiffer Nature Center (Portville) or take a relaxing bike ride along the Allegheny River Valley Trail (Olean).

Explore the enormous rocks and hear the leaves crunch under your feet at Rock City Park (Olean).
