First Day Hike At Allegany State Park

Discover the history of Allegany State Park- January 1, 2026. This year’s First Day Hike is an easy trek featuring historical and environmental tidbits of information about the features found in this area of the park. Your hike will take you along the Quaker Multiuse trail that conveniently has an entrance at Camp Turner.

At 11:30 a.m. join park educators for a guided hike at Science Lake and learn the history and interesting historical figures of the park. The Historical Society will have the Quaker Museum open from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The hike starts at Camp Turner, where the Friends of Allegany State Park will be providing hot dogs, chips, hot chocolate, and coffee from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The First Day Hike will run from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Dress for the weather and be sure to wear appropriate footwear and/or snowshoes.
