Olean's Dyngus Day Celebration

The coming of Easter means the end of Lent.  Polish tradition celebrates the day after Easter as well, called "Dyngus Day". Dyngus Day celebration is held by the Pulaski Club of Olean, located at 1104 N. Union St.  Starting with a dinner that includes Polish dishes of Kielbasa, pierogi, Pulaski potatoes and all sorts of desserts, the celebration is about returning to your roots, renewing old friendship, making new friends, socializing, merriment and cutting loose a little after the strict observance of Lent.  All are welcome and invited to this celebration.

Celebrating in Olean for the past 16 years, it has grown in popularity, you can see folks dressing in red, enjoying Polish food and beer and observing traditions including pouring water, or showing affection by chasing each other with pussy willows, one of the first signs of Spring.

And remember, "Everybody's Polish on Dyngus Day".
