The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and city leadership are inviting the community out for a night on the town. Working with the city and members of the business community, the Chamber is announcing “StrOlean,” the event aims to bring folks to the downtown shopping district for an evening of fun. 

The Great Valley Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a Halloween Party!

$10 per person

Doors open at 6:00pm and the band, Remedy, will play 7:00pm-11:00pm.

Ring in the New Year with the Holiday Valley Groomer parade and spectacular fireworks. Family friendly party in the main Lodge. Approximate times: Groomer Parade on Cindy's Run at 11:15, torchlight parade at 11:30 then the fireworks show at 11:45, ending at midnight. 

Celebrate the Holiday Season with a Living Nativity, complete with a camel, all in the Village. The Ellicottville  A Christmas Stroll was created in 1987 by a group of citizens who wanted to organize such an event in the village. After brainstorming over coffee, it was decided that they wanted a live nativity scene with children dressed as angels and shepherds, who walked around the village and met at the gazebo. There, the baby Jesus was presented and caroling presided. The tradition has continued on for the past 36 years.

The New York Times says it is like being “transported to a scene from an old black and white Christmas movie.” As we start thinking of the Jolly Old Elf himself, why not come down to see what the fuss is all about the entire month!

Holiday Valley Snowsports School is featuring the 10th annual YOUR TURN women's clinic on Wednesday and Thursday, January 24 and 25, 2024 led by Lisa Ballard, a widely acclaimed coach and ski racer and assisted by several of Holiday Valley's finest women instructors. Intermediate skiers who can ski the blue squares through advanced skiers who want to take their skiing to the next level will benefit from this clinic. The clinic will begin at 8AM with registration and breakfast. Pre-registration is advised as attendance is limited. Questions, call 716-699-3506.

Join the Olean Community Theatre as they present Gilbert & Sullivan's HMS Pinafore, a hilarious comic opera and the story of Josephine, daughter of Captain Corcoran, and her love for sailor Ralph Rackstraw, while being torn between true love and her father's desire for her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of Admiralty. This is sure to be a funny tale of love, honor, and duty. Directed by Jake Riggs with a special arrangement by Concord Theatrics.

The NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation is hosting a FREE fishing day on February 15-16, June 28-29, September 27, and November 11th. There’s no fishing license required on those days for the fresh or marine waters of New York State, making it the opportune time for people of all ages to learn and enjoy the day. New Gear’s Eve Bike Ride begins at Camp Allegany on December 31 2024 at 6:00 p.m., with the ride starting at 6:30 p.m. Grab your bike and some friends to join Allegany staff and other fat bike enthusiasts for the last ride of the year. Bring lights, wear warm and reflective gear and a helmet. Participants may be split into different paced groups, if necessary. No one will be left behind. There will be a social to follow the ride in the Rec Hall at Camp Allegany. Bring your own snacks.

Want to work off some of the turkey or treats; or just spend some time outdoors with other biking families? Join us as we take an evening ride along the Red House Bike Path. Meet at Camp Allegany at 6:15 pm with the ride starting at 6:30 pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult and wear a helmet.  You do not have to have a fat bike for this ride, but you will need a headlamp or a bike light. Please, no balance bikes, or bikes with training wheels.

Ed.Simone performs a unique, one-man show of 'A Christmas Carol'

In this solo performance, Simone, an actor and voice artist, brings all the familiar Dickens characters vividly to life: Jacob Marley, the Cratchits, the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future, Old Fezziwig and, of course, Scrooge himself.  In a little over an hour, Simone embodies all these characters and tells the beloved story through the eyes of a Londoner who knew them all.

The performance is presented in association with the Tri County Arts Council.
