Gowanda

Gowanda is a town and village that is in Cattaraugus County and Erie County.

Gowanda was settled in 1810 by Turner Aldrich and incorporated as Gowanda in 1848. The name "Gowanda" came from the Seneca Indian phrase of "a valley among the hills" or "under the cliffs." 

College Daze at Holiday Valley

Spend winter break at Holiday Valley with this special lodge and lift package designed for college students. Cost is just $242.48 per person for quad occupancy at the slopeside Inn at Holiday Valley, 3 days and 2 nights lift tickets (start anytime Sunday through 4:30 on Tuesday), an arrival gift, hosted parties, tastings and more. First time skiers or snowboarders get a FREE 1.5 hour lesson, rental equipment and a beginners area lift ticket. College Season Passholders can deduct $100 from their package price.

The Town of Dayton is on the western border of the Enchanted Mountains of Cattaraugus County.  The Village of South Dayton is located within the town.

Step Right Up at the Cattaraugus County Fair

Cotton candy, fried food, rides, animal shows, and live entertainment, are all available at the Cattauragus County Fair. Make plans to catch the demolition derby, monster trucks, or a concert. Have some good old fashioned fun! The fair is held yearly, the first week in August.
