The Largest New York State Park is Allegany State Park which is the 3rd largest in the nation with 65,000 acres (97 square miles) and lots of trails. Allegany State Park has over 35 miles of Cross Country skiing trails, 18 hiking trails and 5.6 miles of paved multi-use trails (horseback riding, snowmobiling and more) around Red House Lake area. 3 campground areas with over 375 cabins.

Fourth graders are once again downhill skiing and snowboarding FREE in New York State.
With the 4th Grade Ski & Ride Passport program, any child in the fourth grade - regardless of location -can get three FREE passes for skiing or snowboarding, when accompanied by a paying adult, at 30 participating New York ski areas. The only cost is a $19 registration fee.
When students fill out the application form and send it in with a copy of their fourth grade report card, progress report or letter from the school stating they are in fourth grade, along with the $19 processing fee, they will receive a booklet of coupons for free lift tickets for use when an adult purchases a lift ticket.
There are Blackout dates for this program.
