2018 Randolph Country Christmas

Randolph’s Country Christmas Weekend is an annual event that takes place during the first weekend of December. A weekend full of tradition and Christmas surprises. Stop into Randolph and enjoy the craft show at Randolph Central School; Festival of Trees; the "Light up the Night" Christmas Parade presented by EPAC; the Memory Tree Lighting; visit with Santa Claus, and so much more.

Friday, November 30th - TBD

Saturday, December 1st -
8am-11am - Breakfast with Santa (sponsored by EPAC & RACDC) at Fenton Mobility (former Borden's Building)
8am-3pm- Festival of Trees at Fenton Mobility (former Borden's Building).  All Community Groups are invited to setup a Tree, Wreath or unique Display.  Cost is $10 per tree and you can download the registration form on our website EnjoyRandolph.org.  There will be Raffles (prizes donated by Randolph Businesses) and Refreshments for all to enjoy.
9am-gone- Cookie House at the presbyterian Church
10am-4pm - RCS Christmas Craft Show at the High School
3-5pm - Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Randolph Library
4-7:30pm - Christmas Village on Bank St.  Goode's Food Truck, EPAC's Snowflake Soup Bar.  Come celebrate the season by strolling through downtown, enjoying food and music.  We are seeking vendor who are willing to setup outside for a few hours and food vendors to participate in this event (roasted peanuts, popcorn, etc).  There is a $20 fee per spot. 4-5pm - Snow Princess Contest.  This contest is for girls ages 4-8.  Contestants will be judged on poise, personality and winter attire.  Winner will ride in the parade with the Grand Marshall and help light the Memorial Tree. 
6pm - Randolph's "Light Up the Night" Christmas Parade sponsored by Expressions Performing Arts Center.  www.expressionsperformingarts.com
7:30pm- Memory Tree Ceremony at Triangle Park.  Memory Tree Ornaments will be on sale beginning November 1.  To purchase ornaments you can order online; visit Randolph Retail Company; or the RACDC Office Monday through Wednesday 4-6pm.  Contact RACDC Director, Deb Miller, at racdc [at] randolphny [dot] net for more information. 

Sunday, December 2nd -
2pm - Christmas and Toy Auction at the Randolph Fire Hall.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams. http://www.dos.ny.gov/info/pdfs/countynames.pdf

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattaraugus_Creek.

In our opinion, only some of the river banks are bad smelling. Come on over and visit a creek in Cattaraugus County and tell us what you think.
