Rafting on Cattaraugus Creek

The Spring Rafting Season in Zoar Valley opens mid-March with the spring runoff and lasts until May as the water level becomes too low. The best white water action can normally be had from right now through April, depending of course on the amount of rainfall.  In May, as the water level begins to recede, more scenic, warmer and serene trips are found on usually using inflatable duckies (good for 1-2 people).

Reservations are required.  To book your whitewater adventure, or for more information contact:

  • Zoar Valley Canoe & Rafting:  Call 716-410-2824 or e-mail.

You can also check out their websites www.ZoarValleyRafting.com, which has general info, type of trips, costs, gear rental, parking and more!  Or check them out on Facebook!

Most Residents are Amish in the Town of Leon

There are approximately 1,380 residents in Leon with the Amish Community comprising about 76% of that number. The Old Order Amish settled in Leon in 1949. They do not believe in the modern conveniences. They have no electricity in their homes + travel by horse and buggy.

If you are looking for someplace interesting to go, try the Leon area. It is right in the heart of Amish Country.
