CSI Spies Camp at the Challenger Learning Center

CSI Spy camp will introduce your 3rd or 4th grader (completed grades) to the worlds of criminal investigation and undercover spies.  By the end of the week, campers will have learned how to handle a criminal investigation from start to finish.  The science of forensics, everything from observation to spatter patterns, and fluency in secret messages, breaking codes and working undercover will be covered in fun, hands-on activities.  Activities include 'The Case of the Missing Astronaut', fingerprinting and footprints, 'Mission Impossible', coding with Agent Sparki, interrogation techniques, lazer maze, code breakers class and much more!

This camp will be held from 9am to 3pm Aug 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. 

Register now by calling 716-379-8686, emailing challengercenterkp [at] gmail [dot] com or signing up online!  Cost is $160 if registered by July 6th ($185 afterwards) and there is a 20 camper limit, so don't delay. 

Sponsorships may be available to offset cost. Registration is complete after payment is received.

Meaning of the word Cattaraugus

CATTARAUGUS, from a Seneca Indian word meaning “bad smelling banks,” referring to the odor of natural gas leaking from rock seams. http://www.dos.ny.gov/info/pdfs/countynames.pdf

The word "Cattaraugus" means "foul-smelling river bank." This name is a result of the natural gas that oozes from the river mud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattaraugus_Creek.

In our opinion, only some of the river banks are bad smelling. Come on over and visit a creek in Cattaraugus County and tell us what you think.
