Saturday with Santa at Allegany State Park - 2024
HO! HO! HO! The holidays are fast approaching and there's no better way to get into the spirit than by spending some time in Allegany State Park. Join the Environmental Education Department on Saturday, December 7th for a fun, festive, family event- Saturday with Santa!
In this, the season of giving, we are asking event participants to bring non-perishable food items and/or an unwrapped toy to be donated to a local food pantry and Toys for Tots. This is sure to be a great day! Don't miss out!
About the Enchanted Mountains
Allegany State Park Equestrian Trails
Trails:
Allegany State Park has set aside 55 miles of trails spread out on 65,000 acres, specifically for summertime equestrian use. The horse trails are on a series of interconnecting loop trails that utilize gravel park roads, abandoned town roads and abandoned railroad rights-of-way. You will ride on hillside, rolling and level trails.
Footing:
Good footing for horses throughout woodland settings.
Markings:
There is an informative free horse trail map that can be obtained in the park rental offices.
Little Valley Riders Club Trails
Trails:
All levels, from beginner to advanced trail riders.
Footing:
Varies from easy to moderate to rocky.
Markings:
There are maps to promote trail riding on your own, in loops of 1, 2, or 3 hours; and for the more adventurous, you can ride all day.
Camping:
24 camper spots available with hook-ups and 50+ spots without hook-ups, call (716) 969-7390 for reservations.
Parking:
Large area available for all types of parking.
All Aboard
Take a train ride along the countryside of the Enchanted Mountains. The New York and Lake Erie Railroad offers featured rides throughout the year.. All of the train rides are round trips that depart from the Gowanda Depot.
Hop aboard with the Easter Bunny, tell Santa your wish list, solve a murder mystery, enjoy the fall foliage, and so many other rides to choose from!

Learn about the Seneca-Iroquois History
The Onöhsagwë:dé Cultural Center is an impressive facility that houses the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum.
The interactive and informational exhibits tell the history of the Seneca, from the Creation Story to present day.
While there are opportunities to touch and listen to certain components of the exhibits, tours are also available and highly recommended.
