Tailgate Thursday
The NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation is hosting a FREE fishing day on February 15-16, June 28-29, September 27, and November 11th. There’s no fishing license required on those days for the fresh or marine waters of New York State, making it the opportune time for people of all ages to learn and enjoy the day. We especially encourage those with more experience to bring along the young people in their lives to show them the value of patience, the anticipation of the bite, and the exhilaration of the catch!
Tucked into the foothills of the Enchanted Mountains, Gowanda, NY is the kind of small town that surprises you—in the best way. From great food and historic charm to locally made treasures and peaceful countryside drives, it’s easy to turn a simple visit into a full day of fun.
This is designed as a guide to anglers in locating the higher quality stocked and un-stocked trout streams in western NY. It is not intended as a list of all the wild trout streams, nor all the streams where trout are stocked. Lists of all stocked streams are available from this office.
