Allegany Heritage Center presents businesses of Main St.

The Allegany Area Historical Asscoiation will meet on Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Center, 25 North Second Street, Allegany.  Charlene Sendlakowski will talk about the businesses of Main Street from 2nd to 3rd Streets.  She will list who owned what business over the years and who owns it today.  She gathered her information from The Allegany Citizen, the former weekly newspaper, and from city directories and other materials.  All are welcome.

Clare Mark is the highest elevation in Cattaraugus County

The highest point in Cattaraugus County is Clare Mark, at 2,430 feet.  This mount, in the Town of Allegany off Chipmunk Road, is privately owned, and does not have public access for hiking.  Nearby attractions are Rock City Park and Allegany State Park.
