Christmas in Gowanda

Gowanda is a a beautifully quaint community nestled among the hills surrounding Cattaraugus Creek and is coming together for a Christmas Celebration with movies at the Hollywood Theater, Santa and his reindeer, a parade and Princess Elsa!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4th
4:00PM-9:00PM

  • 4PM-6PM, and after parade-9PM: Visit with Santa and Princess Elsa at the Hollywood Theater
  • 4PM-9PM:  Make an Ornament at Love INC
  • 4PM-9PM:  Local organization booths set up throughout Main St & inside of Love INC
  • 4PM-9PM:  Meet Santa’s Friends-Frosty, Rudolph, Grinch, Safety Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog
  • 5PM-9PM:  Hot Chocolate and Cookies in Town of Persia, meet and greet your municipal leaders
  • 5PM-6PM, and after parade-9PM:  Horse and Wagon Rides
  • 6:45PM-8:45PM:  Santa’s Reindeer in front of Town of Persia
  • 6PM: Tree lighting begins, come join with us in celebrating our Veterans.  Performance by Gowanda High School Chamber Singers.
    Tree lighting guests:  World War II Veterans
    Live Nativity:  Ministerial Group
  • 7PM:  Holiday Spirit Parade Begins at Panther Drive.  Route: Aldrich St to Main St.  End at North Water St (judges booth Hollywood theater). To include various Fire Companies, surrounding school and local bands, and floats REGISTER TODAY!  Call Steve Raiport 698-9947 or Mark Hebner 200-3572 for details. Hollywood Theater Show Times for Friday

  • 4:15PM Movie (Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer)
  • 5:15PM Movie (Frosty the Snowman)
  • 8:15PM (or following the parade) Movie (Charlie Brown Christmas)
  • Thank you veterans movie—tribute to World War II Veterans will shown throughout the show times.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5th
10:00AM-4:00PM

  • 10AM-11AM:  Ages 5-11 with a parent “GCS Boosters Kids Painting Classes” at St. Joseph’s Hall
  • 11AM-Noon:  Ages 12 and up “GCS Boosters Kids Painting Classes” at St. Joseph’s Hall ($10 fee* per child, space is limited, to register contact Sue Rebmann at 597-5929).
  • 11AM-11:30AM:  Visit with Santa and J&J Outfitters
  • Noon-2PM:  Story Time with the Grinch at Gowanda Free Library
  • Noon-3PM:  Visit with Santa—at Love INC. Hot Chocolate and Cookies served, make an ornament
  • Noon-4PM:  Local organization booths set up throughout Main Street & inside the Hollywood Theater
  • Noon-4PM:  Meet Santa’s Friends Downtown—Frosty, Rudolph, Safety Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog
  • 2:00PM:  Movie at the Hollywood Theater-Charlie Brown Christmas
  • 2:45 PM:  Santa Snowflake Walk—Pets and strollers welcome, dress up in Christmas attire and costumes.  Sponsored by Gowanda Central School PTA and Healthy Community Alliance.  Line Up on North Water Street-Municipal Parking lot

 3:45 PM: Closing Ceremonies-Under the Hollywood Theater Marque.  This includes Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce coloring contest winners announced, store window holiday display contest winner announced, holiday spirit parade winners announced, shop local basket drawings announced.

Following Drawings and Closing Ceremony:
4:15 PM: Movie—Tribute to World War II Veterans at Hollywood Theater
4:30 PM: Christmas Concert at the Hollywood Theater with a variety of local school and church choral groups.
