2018 Silver Bells in Salamanca
Santa on a fire truck

As the fall winds sweep away the falling leaves and before you sleep off your turkey dinner, if you listen closely, you can almost hear the ringing of bells. Bells? Yes, that's right we all love that it's almost Silver Bells in the City time. Soon in the air there will be a feeling of Christmas as the strings of street lights, even stoplights will blink red and green.  The theme of the festival is a reminder of Ray Evans, lyricist of "Silver Bells" who was born in Salamanca.

The Ray and Wyn Evans Foundation, the Seneca Salamanca Chamber, and its members are busily planning and organizing their holiday events to help you ring in the holiday season.  Key events are:
November 30 - 6:30 - The fun and festivities kick off with a parade on Friday, November 30th at 6:30pm!  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be ushered in at the end of parade (on Main St.) to Jeffereson Park where they will hit the switch to turn on all the holiday lights in the Park, and officially ring in the season!  Bring the family and enjoy the Hoiday festivities, music, hot chocolate, and the surprises that this magical time of the year can bring.

November 30 - December 2 - 10am-9pm each day - December Pow Wow at the Allegany Community Center.  See live dance demonstrations.

December 1-2 - 7pm or 2pm -  Christmas Concert at the Ray Evans Seneca TheaterSee your talented neighbors, friends, and community members as they sing, dance, play an instrument!  Or join in the performance yourself!

December 5 - 4-7pm - Swan St. Florist's Christmas Open House!

December 8 - 9-11am - Breakfast with Santa at Myer's Steakhouse.  Call 945-3153 for reservations.

December 7 - 8 - 7pm - Salamanca High School's "A Charlie Brown Christmas!

December 8 - 2pm - Disney's "A Christmas Carol" at the Ray Evans Seneca Theater.  Free showing!

So, join us and hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch, this is Santa's big scene, and above all this bustle, you'll hear silver bells, it's Christmas time in the city, ring-a-ling, hear them ring. Soon it will be Christmas Day.
