Tyler Calkins to perform at Allegany State Park

Take a break from the winter weather and spend a relaxing evening in Allegany State Park. Join us on Saturday, January 18th for a “By the Fireside” series concert. This month’s featured performance is by Tyler Calkins.

Over a decade ago, 31-year old singer and songwriter Tyler Calkins set out to create a sound reflecting the songwriting techniques of the sixties and seventies, while also utilizing modern and alternative rock.  In the years since, Tyler's unique rhythm guitar, piano, harmonica and vocals have made him one of the most sought-after performers in the Southern Tier. Having achieved his master’s degree in music performance from Pennsylvania State University as well as a PhD in Music Education, Tyler's musical knowledge and songwriting are growing each day.

Backed by his band, Marshmellow Overcoat, Tyler has five albums under his belt (in addition to solo and side projects). Marshmellow Overcoat perform most often in Western PA and NY State.  With over 300 original and cover songs in its repertoire and several decades of combined experience, the band keeps breaking new ground. Tyler also plays many solo acoustic shows and in duos with his friends from other bands in the region.

This free “By the Fireside” event takes place on Saturday, January 18th from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in the Red House Administration Building Lobby.  For more information please contact the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at 716-354-9101 ext. 236 or AlleganySP [at] parks [dot] ny [dot] gov.
