Sean Patrick McGraw at Rock the Park in Allegany State Park

Picture the scene: a beautiful summer evening in Allegany State Park, great live music -and you are smack in the middle of it! It can all be yours to enjoy at Allegany State Park’s 7th annual Rock the Park!

This year’s event takes place on July 20th at the Quaker Beach area. The day kicks off at 3 p.m. with a local vendor showcase. Various merchants and organizations will be on hand to familiarize park patrons and local residents with the many great things that are available to them in the surrounding area. At 5:00 p.m. Park Naturalists will host an “Ask the Naturalist” program that will feature several interactive nature displays including a nature themed photo booth. At 6:00 pm at a sandcastle building contest will take place, sign up at the “Ask the Naturalist” table.

At 6:00 p.m. it’s time to “Rock the Park” with opening act and Allegany’s own Artist in Residence, The Rightly So. Born in the heart of the Buffalo rust belt, The Rightly So brings a vibrant energy to Americana music. The young acoustic duo is comprised of esteemed guitarist and performer Gregory Zeis, and award-winning singer/songwriter Jess Chizuk. Together, their performances have the best of both worlds; vibrant energy and chemistry without losing any musical integrity. It's relatable acoustic music carried by perfectly blended harmonies that can only come from voices.

They will be followed by headliner Sean Patrick McGraw. Singer and songwriter, Sean Patrick Mcgraw, a WNY native, gained national recognition in 2004 as a semi-finalist on USA Network’s Nashville Star. Since then, Sean has continued to perform as well as write songs that have been licensed by ESPN, recorded by major country artist—Montgomery Gentry, as well as others that have been placed on TV programs such as HBO’s True Blood and Sons on Anarchy. Sean is joining us this week all the way from Nashville, TN.

The music portion of this free event starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Quaker Beach area. So definitely come and Rock the Park! For more information on this event contact the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at 716-354-9101 ext 236 or check out our Facebook page.
