Glacial Impacts on Cattaraugus County

We are very fortunate to live in a part of New York State that is filled with beautiful hills and valleys.  Have you ever given much thought to the glaciers which helped to create our natural scenery?   Whether you have or have not, here is an opportunity to learn more!

Join nature enthusiast Tim Baird for a discussion of the late stages of the Wisconsin Glacial Episode in the county and how it has created the natural features that we see today.  This program will examine photographs of some the county’s land forms that illustrate the glacial impact which completed its work approximately 11,000 years ago.

To bring this lecture to life, Tim will also host a field trip on Thursday, June 27th so we can visit some glacial areas and see firsthand the amazing power and influence of nature.  You are not required to attend the glacier lecture in order to attend the field trip but we are hoping you will have the interest and ability to attend both!

Fee: Free for members, $5 for non-members and free for children 13 and under.  Minors must be accompanied by an adult. This event will be held at the Chestnut Cabin at Pfeiffer Nature Center, Lillibridge Preserve, 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville, NY 14770.  Please register by 4 pm, Tuesday June 11th.   Sign up on the Programs Calendar on our website at www.pfeiffernaturecenter.org or contact the office at 716-933-0187.
