Free Fishing Day in NY!
The NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation is hosting a FREE fishing day on February 17-18, June 29-30, September 28, and November 11th. There’s no fishing license required on those days for the fresh or marine waters of New York State, making it the opportune time for people of all ages to learn and enjoy the day. We especially encourage those with more experience to bring along the young people in your life to show them the value of patience, the anticipation of the bite and the exhilaration of the catch!
Tourism Promotion Program
Cattaraugus County's Tourism Promotion Grant Program, also known as the Bed Tax Grant Program, accepts funding applications, , that support and encourage tourism promotion in Cattaraugus County, New York (the Enchanted Mountains).
Funding Source
The program's funding source is the County's share of taxes collected from overnight stays, bed taxes, within the County. This funding source is split into two of the following groups:
Group A
Several Chambers of Commerce with full-time staff.
Group B
Business associations, non-profit organizations, events, festivals, chambers of commerce without full-time staff and other tourism-associated activities.

A Little History
The first settler arrived around 1818. The Town of Coldspring was established in 1837 from a part of the Town of Napoli. In 1847 and 1848, part of the town was added to the Town of South Valley.
